HYS is looking for male and female athletes aged 12 to 15 with intellectual disabilities (ID) to join our Special Olympics Unified Sports teams. The program brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete on the same teams. Participants improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills and learn acceptance and inclusion. Unified Soccer serves as a progression from the TOPSoccer program for players with ID who wish to play on a team with peers without ID. It is intended for individuals capable of playing independently in a team environment without rules modifications.

The goal is to have two five-a-side teams consisting of six individuals with an ID and four without on each team. The teams will practice together every Sunday and then compete in two Special Olympics Unified Soccer tournaments in October and November.

This is the first year of the program. There is no cost to join.

You can register through SportsPilot. Contact Jon-Paul St. Germain with any questions.
